This year, The Security Centre Limited is sponsoring Cayman Islands Little League!

We decided to sponsor this program as Little League is a very popular international pastime which promotes a healthy balance of community based activities through regular season play among local softball and baseball teams.

This program assists youths in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. Little League can be found in more than 80 countries worldwide with more than 2.4 million children participating each year.

We caught up with Clayton Lopez, Director of Operations and Fundraising for the Association to ask him a few questions that we and most of you would like to know about Little League.

What is Cayman Islands Little League Association’s Mission?

‘The Cayman Island Little League Association’s mission is to empower young people through baseball and softball at absolutely not cost to them. Doing this gives us the ability to eliminate any financial responsibility for the parent or guardian, promote positive social values, healthy habits, discipline, sportsmanship and environmental responsibility, resulting in real life power, on and off the playing field.  ‘

How did you get involved?

‘I got involved because I am a big advocate of youth sports and true community based programs like Little League.

What are the highlights of Little League?

‘Watching the joy on a kids face when playing the game and the self-confidence and the comradery they develop as they go through the program’

From what age can kids get involved?

‘The age requirement is 5 to 17 years old girl or boy.
